How To Tell The Sizes Of Storage Units

December 14, 2015
An auctioneer will state the storage auction unit number as well as the size of the locker.

What you can haul out of the unit with the resources you have available to you.

•   Do you own a box truck?
•   Do you own a pick-up truck?
•   Do you own a trailer gate?

Rent or borrow a vehicle will depend on the size(s) of storage units you buy. Educate yourself on how much merchandise can fit into a single sized locker. At auction, you can then determine if you will need to rent or borrow a vehicle to haul your products.

Self-service storage facilities can have up to seventy different unit sizes or more!

However, there are basic basic storage unit sizes you will find at public auction.

As an auction buyer, it is important to understand the space of a room as you are responsible to clean out that locker within 24-48 hours. While each storage auction unit may not be filled vertically to capacity; the width and length could be packed. Know what type of trailer or vehicle you will need to haul the contents before you bid at auction by understanding the sizes of storage units.
