Auction Hunters, aired for five seasons.
Intro to the show as follows:
Each year, Allen Haff and Ton Jones dig through hundreds of unclaimed storage units hunting for discarded treasure. These are the stories of their most rare and valuable discoveries.
According to Allen`s IMdb profile, he`s an antique dealer and collector with over 20 years of experience in the field. According to Ton`s IMdb profile, he`s a collector of weapons and an accomplished animal handler and wrangler.
The two men were hired as hosts (let`s keep it real and call them actors) for the show. In essence,
Auction Hunters is/was a staged-reality storage auction television series. However, though the show wasn`t reality in its truest form, each episode did include trivial truths.
These `Factoids" may assist you, the storage auction buyer, to gain a knowledge about antiques, weapons, collectibles, etc. Included are the trivia from the first half of season one of the series.
Season 1, Episode 1: "The Wild West."

• In the 1950s, Lionel was the largest toy maker in the world.
• Lionel ceased toy production from 1942 to 1945 to produce equipment for the U.S. Navy.
• Tower double lock handcuffs were manufactured in the 1870s.
• The "Pepperbox" was known for being inaccurate and misfiring.
• (About the Pepperbox) A wad of fabric was used to keep the ammunition from falling out of the front of the gun.

• Cash registers were invented to keep dishonest employees from stealing money.
• Cash registers` elaborate designs were meant to lure customers and lock in sales.
• German police designed the H & K 9mm to compete with the firepower of potential terrorists.
• (About the H & K 9mm) The "squeeze cocker" is the gun`s safety. It can only fire when the grip is fully squeezed.
Season 1, Episode 3: "Ton`s Got a Gun."

• The Colt "Single Action Army" was designed for the U.S. Cavalry in 1873.
• Slot machines now account for half of all gambling games played today.
• Slot machines were called "one-armed bandits," because they left the gamer penniless.
• The first mini bikes were made by mechanics out of spare parts.
• (About the Colt Peacemaker) It was called a "Peacemaker," because of its ability to settle scores quickly.

• An estimated 65 million desktop computers are currently in storage.
• The Atari 2600 was commonly referred to as "The Woody."
• Atari sold over 30 million of the 2600 model.
• The original Atari in the box can be worth up to $250.
• The Schwinn Autocycle was designed to resemble the motorcycles of its day.
• (Electric Guitar) Stratocaster colors were designed to mimic the colors of the American hot rods.
