A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far way…
The first
Star Wars filmed was released in May 1977. Ground breaking visual effects catapulted writer/producer George Lucas into super stardom. The film was nominated for ten Academy Awards! Death Star, light sabers, youthful heroes and dark villains – the whole world was caught in this new Sci-Fi adventure.
What a simple story, too.
A young restless boy had dreams to see the galaxy. During a trade on his uncle`s farm, he acquired two androids, R2-D2 and C3P0. These droids would forever change his provincial life.
Young Luke Skywalker would meet his mentor, Obi-Wan Kenobi whose services was enlisted by Princess Leia through R2-D2. With the help of a rogue smuggler, Han Solo, and his first mate, Chewbacca; this little band of men and droids set out to rescue the Princess from the evil lord, Darth Vader.
Da, Da, Da, Da De-Da, Da De-Da – Imperial March, well, you get the gist.
They rescued the Princess. Luke used the Force. Death Star destroyed. The galaxy saved. Vader escaped.
First installment,
Episode IV: A New Hope, broke all box-office records. Today, it is currently one of the top 100 highest-grossing films of all time. It dropped from #1 to #57.
With the release of
The Force Awakens on December 18, this Sci-Fi film is set to break all existing records and be back on top as the #1 highest-grossing film of all time.
One auction house decided to take advantage of the fanatic-film frenzy. Sotheby`s in New York will hold its first ever auction completely dedicated to
Star Wars. Smart move.
